People often ask what I’ve been up to… This is what I’m doing right now:

(This is a Now page. If you have your own site, you should make one, too!)

  • Since my last update, which was almost 5 months ago now, I’ve been quite busy with work and family. Traveled to the US to be with my dad and grandpa, help my grandma with tech problems, and have spent the past 20 days in France at the chateau, which is still my yearly work retreat of choice. I seldom feel more productive than while I’m here, and the sense of community is amazing. I’m here for another few weeks before heading to Austria for a yoga retreat.

  • Currently Reading:

    • Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson

      • Climax to part 1 of the Stormlight Archives, and book #20 in the Cosmere. I absolutely love the worldbuilding in this universe, which spans eons and galaxies.

    • HBR Essays On Strategy - Paused because I forgot it while traveling

      • I’m building an app and have been really wondering what to do with it, so I turned to this book to help me with an overview of some strategic principles that I could employ. I’ve read many of the articles and essays individually in the past, but it’s taught me a lot about positioning and helped me to answer the question of “who is it really for?” (also kudos to Seth Godin for prompting that question in the first place in his book This is Marketing)

  • Recently Completed Reads:

    • The Burning White by Brent Weeks

      • The finale of the series, and it ended well. I would recommend this series to most people.

    • The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks

      • In the series by Brent Weeks, I've been reading since three two updates ago the last update, and am generally off to a slow start to my reading year when it comes to Fiction.

    • Meditation for Mortals by Oliver Burkman

      • If you’ve not read Time Management for Mortals, it is a crucial read for anyone and has nothing to do with productivity. I expect to find similar lessons within this book.

    • This is Strategy by Seth Godin

      • Solid fast follow to This is Marketing, deeper dive into the strategy element. Seth has a grounded and unique way of seeing the world, and I love hearing his words in his own voice. I read this on kindle first and then while driving and it did not disappoint.

  • Books On Hold / Next Up:

  • Current Exercise Routine:

    • While here at the chateau i’ve been cycling between yoga, barbell exercises and looooong walks.

  • Current Diet:

    • protein shake in the morning followed by high protein lunch and dinner, with protein bars in the evening before bed just to hit my protein and calorie goals

  • Currently learning:

    • Passive

      • Deep into my A2 Dutch lessons. Still don’t feel very far. Doesn’t help that i’m in France where opportunites to immerse are even fewer than the already-very-english-fluent Amsterdam.

    • Skill-Based

      • N/A - Taking the month to focus on more broad leadership and industry education

  • Side Projects:

    • fromany.country

      • 2 years ago, I had the notion that I wanted to create a space for my fellow nomads and pseudo-nomads to find community, but I couldn’t figure out a way to do it. Then, as I was trying to figure out my tax liability across all the different countries I lived in and visited this past year, I decided to create this web app. It’s primarily a geo-arbitrage tool that looks to help you assess your potential tax liability when living in multiple countries, but I have hopes of eventually adding a community element to it.

      • NOTE: I’ve put this on pause after feedback from some tax and legal friends who have some cool ideas i’ll look to implement eventually.

    • The Done List

      • I have a very simple prototype using xcode and once I have an MVP for fromany.country I’ll put more effort into this one.

  • Recent Travel (since the last update):

    • Warsaw, PL

    • Normandy, FR

    Upcoming Travel:

    • Mayrhofen, AS

    • Cyprus

    • Los Angeles, CA

    • Denver, CA
